  • Restored the Blessed Virgin Mary statue on the Ascension green

  • Mornings of service and weekly landscaping at Our Lady of Angels

  • Christmas decorating (and cleanup) at Our Lady of Angels

  • Annual Ascension and St. Edmund coat drive

  • Prepared and served over 200 hot meals for Catholic Charities weekly dinner program

  • 11,000 diapers collected for Catholic Charities, Beyond Hunger, and the Migrant Ministry

  • Sponsored an open community subscription to Formed.org

2023 Year in Review

In 2023 we made $25,000 in donations to:

  • St. Martin de Porres food pantry

Service

  • 400 meals prepared and served for clients and guests of Catholic Charities in Cicero

  • 300 new & used coats collected during the fall coat drive and donated to St. Catherine & St. Lucy School and Catholic Charities

  • Oktoberfest was enjoyed by hundreds of people raising over $7,000 for Ascension and St. Edmund parish.

  • Helping to convert the St. Catherine & St. Lucy rectory with Housing Forward

  • Sponsored the 2023 Ascension and St. Edmund fish fry

  • Over 5,000 pounds of fresh produce was donated to Beyond Hunger, St. Martin DePorres food pantry, New Moms, and Catholic Charities

  • 12,278 diapers with a value of $4,000 collected at Ascension Church and donated to Catholic Charities and Beyond Hunger

  • Mowed the grass weekly at the Our Lady of Angels (OLA) Mission in Chicago

  • Helped with Christmas decorations at Ascension Church and OLA.

  • Many social events for the council and parish community including bowling tournament, home brew tasting, bags tournament, Oktoberfest, and our annual December social

2022 Year in Review

In 2022 we made $20,000 in donations to:

Service

  • Mission of Our Lady of the Angels outreach on the West side of Chicago

  • Collect and deliver over 200 coats

  • Over 14,000 diapers delivered monthly

  • Over 2 tons of fresh produce delivered weekly to local food pantries

  • Convert the St. Catherine - St. Lucy rectory to a Housing Forward emergency shelter

Faith

  • Monthly rosary

  • Lenten Bible study and faith sharing

  • Donated 275 free copies of Dynamic Catholic by Matthew Kelly

  • Sponsored a speaker series hosted by Ascension’s Adult Faith Formation committee

Family and Community

  • Hosted summer outdoor movie nights

  • Hosted bowling and cornhole tournaments

  • Sponsored and staffed Ascension & St. Edmund unification hospitality event

  • Sponsored and spearheaded staffing for Ascension Oktoberfest
